1900 - 1909

1899-1902 Anglo-Boer War: 3-year war between Britian and Dutch descent in modern day South Afica. It ends in a peace treaty that placed the region under British Empire but with the promise of eventual self-government.

1904-1905 Russo-Japanese War: Japnese challenged Russian by taking Korea and Machuria. They first defeated Russian at Port Arthur on 1904 destorying its Pacific fleet, then defeated its Baltic Sea fleet at the Battle of Tsushima on 1905.

1904-1906 First Russian Revolution: First elected national parlianment (Duma). Leon Trosky formed the first workers' soviet (elected council). But the revolution was crushed by Czar Nicholas II in the ened.

1905 Einstein proposed the theory of relativity.

1906: San Francisco Earthquake. Mayor posted notices that looters will be shot on sight.

1908 Tunguska Event in Siberia: a huge meteor air burst.

1900 Zeppelin LZ1 by German general Count von Zeppelin started the the most successful airships series.

1903 Wright brothers' first flight: recognized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale as the first sustained and controlled heavier-than-air powered flight. It happened at North Carolina, lasted 12 seconds and there were only five witnesses. Interesting aviation blog.

1908 First airplane fatality: Also by Wright brother. The passenger, an amry Lieutenant, was killed and Orville Wright was badly injured.

1927 a US pilot flew non-stop from New York to Paris.

1900s First prototype helicopter.

1940 First mass-produced helicopter Sikorsky R4.

1976 First supersonic passenger aircraft Concorde. They retired in 2003 because of safety and cost concern.
